About
I moved to the Town of Cary in 2007. At that time, Town of Cary was actively considering building their first public aquatics facility. In fact, they were even trying to decide on which of two locations would be best. The pool was even in the budget. And then it all came to a screeching halt. Seven years later, Town of Cary has removed the aquatics center from their active projects page and the aquatic center’s budget line item has been removed.
So I started this site for a number of reasons:
Raise awareness regarding aquatics needs in Cary, NC
Discuss what other cities and towns are doing to address aquatics needs
Vent my frustration
My goal is that by the time my oldest child is ready for high school swimming (2023), Town of Cary will have a public aquatics facility suitable to host high school dual meets. As of today (Aug 2015), that’s 8 years away. One might argue my goal should be a bit more ambitious. But after living in Cary for 8 years, I think it’s a comfortable goal.
