- Town of Cary aquatic needs are under-served by current privately run facilities.
- Town of Cary currently does not own or operate any indoor or outdoor pools.
- Of the closest Triangle cities, Cary and Apex are the only ones without a municipal pool.

- According to the latest Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources Master Plan, Town of Cary residents ranked an outdoor aquatic center as the 3rd highest priority for funding.
- In its 2015 report, the Sports & Fitness Industry Association found that “Swimming for Fitness” was the top US aspirational sport in the majority of age categories.

- Numerous studies have found swimming to be significantly beneficial to your health including disease prevention and lower mortality rates.
- According to the CDC, drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States. A 2009 study found a significant reduction in the risk of drowning amongst children who participated in formal swim lessons.
